We came to Bali as expats looking to stay longer than a holiday, and the search nearly broke us: endless Facebook groups, fake or already-gone listings, and a different price from every agent for the same house. We once almost paid two months upfront to an “agent” who had no right to rent the villa at all. The red flags made us walk away in time. Many people don't.
